Week 9 - final thoughts on the helmet
It’s the strangest thing, it’s the end of week, and I’m just now considering going back to work. This thought feels exhausting and it makes me nervous. I also financially don’t have the luxury or more time.
I’m just starting to feel confident being with my son alone again for short periods of time. This is disappointing. I wish this moment had come a lot sooner. The times that I’ve been alone with him it’s clear that after a few hours I am incredibly fatigued and exhausted for the rest of the day. It’s not entirely unsafe but it’s unsustainable. At this point I just need to rebuild a tolerance.
On another note I actually ended up using that helmet for naps in bedtime. I think with most toddlers or babies this purchase would be unnecessary.
…Unless you bedshare. If you do this, then I 100% would recommend it. By the time I was using it, I was pretty much out of the window of any danger from mild trauma causing an impact to my recovery. However, being hit in the head, having my hair pulled, etc. made me feel terrible and I’m glad I had some kind of barrier when he was close enough to do these things.
I don’t technically bed share. My son has his own room and has a floor bed, but he doesn’t sleep independently unfortunately. Someone lays with him until he gets tired and falls asleep. This is where the helmet shined.
